Faith and Service

Prior to the 2008 football season, members of the THS football team and coaching staff attended a leadership training  conference.  While developing team structure and policies, we realized we were not united in what we stood for as a team.  We wanted to be able to answer the question, “What is Turner Football all about?”  In trying to answer this question, many terms describing character traits were discussed. We decided we didn’t just need words, we needed promises.  From this decision grew the Golden Bear Football Core Covenants.

Faith

Faith is defined as a belief and an action that is not based on proof. Belief alone does not make a person faithful.  In order to show faith, a person must act on their belief.  Turner football players practice faith by believing in their coaches, teammates and themselves and acting on that belief.

Service

We define service as the act of putting someone or something else before ourselves.  Learning to serve helps our players understand how to be a part of something bigger than themselves.  As a Turner football player, whenever we make a decision, we should ask ourselves, “Who am I serving?”

"Have Faith in your program, your teammates, and yourself, and serve in that order and we will be victorious."
